Chris Christie responds to Donald Trump's attacks on his weight: 'Like he’s some Adonis?'

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie responded to former President Donald Trump mocking his weight, calling the former president a “bully on the schoolyard.”

Asked about Trump’s previous comments on Fox News’ “MediaBuzz,” the former governor responded in an interview that aired on Sunday, “Oh what, like he’s some Adonis?”

“There are tens of millions of Americans, out in your audience watching right now, who, like me, have struggled with their weight. I continue to struggle. I continue to try to do better, and so do they,” Christie said.

“What’s that got to do with my competence for office? I ran the governorship of New Jersey for eight years,” Christie added, calling Trump a “child” and a “bully on the schoolyard who teases you and makes fun of you.”

The former Trump ally also said “I don’t care what he says about me, and I don’t care what he thinks about me, and he should take a look in the mirror every once in a while — maybe he’d drop the weight thing off of his list of criticisms.”

It’s not the first time Christie has responded to Trump’s insults over his weight. The former president previously shared a video edited to insult Christie over his weight, showing the former governor in a doctored clip holding a plate of food and standing in front of a buffet while launching his presidential bid.

Christie at the time told CNN “If we had a child who conducted themselves like that, we’d send them to their room, not to the White House.”

Trump in a video last week said he has been told not to “punch down” at his Republican rivals, arguing that “sometimes it’s necessary to talk badly about those that, for no reason, other than politics, speak badly about you.”
