This Chris Hemsworth Flick Just Hit #4 on Netflix—& It’s from the Creator of ‘The Crown’
This old Chris Hemsworth flick, Rush, just drove itself right into our streaming queue.
If the movie sounds familiar, it’s probably because it premiered back in 2013. However, it recently claimed the number four spot on Netflix’s list of most-watched movies, which is why it’s suddenly making a comeback. (It’s currently ranked behind Synchronic, Thunder Force and Why Did You Kill Me?)
Rush takes place in the ’70s and examines the real-life rivalry between two Formula 1 drivers: James Hunt (Hemsworth) and Niki Lauda (Daniel Brühl). While Hunt is a charming English playboy, Lauda is a perfectionist who hails from Austria. Together, they burn up the track, pushing themselves to their breaking point, both mentally and physically.
Meanwhile, their significant others (Olivia Wilde, Alexandra Maria Lara) are forced to watch from the sidelines, while the drivers battle it out.
Rush also stars Pierfrancesco Favino (Clay Regazzoni), David Calder (Louis Stanley), Natalie Dormer (Nurse Gemma), Stephen Mangan (Alastair Caldwell), Christian McKay (Lord Hesketh), Alistair Petrie (Stirling Moss), Colin Stinton (Teddy Mayer) and Julian Rhind-Tutt (Anthony “Bubbles” Horsley). The movie was directed by Ron Howard (Arrested Development), while Peter Morgan (The Crown) wrote the script.
Now that we’ve binge-watched the new season of Formula 1: Drive to Survive, it seems only fitting that we add Rush to our streaming queue.
