Marvel star Chris Hemsworth is best-known these days for being a major part of the Thor and Avengers films, as well as Netflix's huge original movie Extraction, but back in the day he was earning his stripes on Australian TV.

We all know he was in both Home and Away and Neighbors, but this week the actor took us back to his first ever on-screen role via his Instagram: playing King Arthur in Aussie/Canadian kids fantasy series Guinevere Jones. The show focused on the titular character as she fought evil and dealt with... high school?

"Throw back Thursday to my first ever gig," he wrote. "When I first put this beautiful wig on I knew one of two things would happen, I'd be forced to grow my hair out and dye it red due to massive public fan fare or I'd never work again.

"Neither was true. Life's funny that way."

The show aired on Australia's Network Ten, Canada's YTV and the UK version of Nickelodeon in the early-to-mid noughties, and looking at the intro sequence, it might just be one of the most early-to-mid noughties things we've seen in a while.

Chris' appearance in the series was somewhat brief, appearing in two of the 26 episodes.

Chris will be appearing as the God of Thunder again in Thor: Love of Thunder next year, which will also see Natalie Portman's Jane Foster return and wield the mighty hammer.

Amusingly, Hemsworth recently admitted he thought he had been written out of the MCU because he wasn't in Captain America: Civil War, which was essentially Avengers 2.5.
