Country singer-songwriter Chris Janson, who has four platinum-selling singles on his résumé including the mega-hit “Buy Me a Boat,” will be in concert Aug. 19 at the Sand Mountain Park and Amphitheater.

All Music describes Janson as having “an easy swagger and a sly sense of humor,” and Rolling Stone has called him “a live legacy in the making” because of his energetic concert performances.

Janson, a native of Perryville, Missouri, moved to Nashville after graduating from high school to pursue a music career.

He gained attention by co-writing and singing duets with Holly Williams, "I Hold On” and “A Love I Think Will Last,” on her 2009 album “Here with Me,” and landed a recording contract with BMA Records.

Janson released only one single with the label, 2010’s “’Till a Woman Comes Along,” which reached No. 52 on Billboard’s Hot Country and Country Airplay charts. (“Take It to the Bank,” a 2014 EP on Columbia Nashville, included material he’d recorded for BMA.)

He moved to the independent Bigger Picture Music Group label and released a self-titled EP in 2013, which included the singles “Better I Don’t” and “Cut Me Some Slack” that reached the middle of the charts.

Janson then broke through with “Buy Me a Boat,” which he initially self-released (and reached No. 33 on the Hot Country chart), but later was released as a single by Warner Nashville. It reached No. 2 on the Hot Country and No. 3 on the Country Airplay charts, No. 41 on the Billboard Hot 100 and achieved quadruple platinum sales.

His album by the same name reached No. 4 on Billboard’s country chart and No. 14 on its overall Top 200 chart, and produced another charting single, “Power of Positive Drinkin.’”

Janson’s album “Everywhere” followed in 2017 reaching No. 7 on the country chart and producing two more platinum singles: “Fix a Drink,” which hit No. 10 on the Hot Country and No. 2 on the Country Airplay chart; and “Drunk Girl,” which reached No. 12 and No. 7, respectively in those rankings.

“Real Friends,” from 2019, reached No. 12 on the Country Albums chart and produced two more strong singles: “Good Vibes” and “Done,” which each reached No. 8 on the Hot Country and No. 1 on the Country Airplay charts.

Janson currently is on a nationwide tour and his fifth studio album, “The Outlaw Side of Me,” will be released on June 16. It’s his first album on the BMLG label, under his own Harpeth 60 stamp, after seven years with Warner Nashville. (His last album for that label, 2022’s “All In,” failed to chart.)

It includes a collaboration with Dolly Parton and Slash of Guns ‘n Roses on the song “21 Forever.”

His first single for BMLG, “All I Need Is You,” was released in February and reached No. 40 on the Country Airplay chart.

Janson also has co-written songs recorded by other artists: “I Love This Life” for LOCASH; “Truck Yeah” and “How I’ll Always Be” for Tim McGraw; and “God Fearin’ Man” and “Those Days Are Gone” for Hank Williams Jr.

He’s been a Grand Ole Opry member since 2018 and is a frequent performer on the show. He recently marked his fifth anniversary as a member by singing “Folsom Prison Blues” while wearing Johnny Cash’s iconic topcoat, which he owns.
