Several concertgoers in Chicago tweeted Saturday that Kattan had proposed to Libri, a Springfield native.

The couple attended Saturday's concert by the rock band Wilco at the Riviera Theatre.

Kattan proposed to Libri, a writer and former on-air personality, in front of the stage as the Chicago band played "I’m the Man Who Loves You." Band members knew about the proposal.

Libri confirmed the engagement in a text message to a reporter.

Kattan met Libri about 18 months ago during a stop in Springfield where he was performing a stand-up comedy show at Boondocks Pub.

The two also have been writing scripts together, including a full-length romantic comedy and have appeared in videos for the YouTube channel, Hey Kattan!

Kattan developed memorable "Saturday Night Live" characters like Mr. Peepers and Mango during a run on the show from 1996 to 2003. Kattan also starred in "A Night at the Roxbury" with Will Ferrell.

Kattan now calls Springfield "home base," although he maintains a place in Los Angeles for some work-related purposes.

Both have been married before. Libri has three children.
