Chris O’Dowd Drops $2.15 Million for Vintage 1930s Spanish Home in Los Angeles

The Irish actor and comedian also reportedly owns another, slightly smaller Spanish bungalow nearby

Bridesmaids star Chris O’Dowd is reportedly the new owner of a nearly 100-year-old Spanish bungalow tucked away in the tony Beverly Grove neighborhood of Los Angeles—and if it's true, he paid a tidy $2.15 million for the abode. The bungalow, originally built back in 1930, hasn’t been sold in more than 50 years, meaning that O’Dowd and his wife, writer-TV presenter Dawn O’Porter, may want to commission a few upgrades.

The five-bedroom, three-bathroom home spans 2,937 square feet across two stories, and still maintains many of the original architectural details, including stained-glass windows, vintage light fixtures, and hand-forged wrought iron accents. The front door is carved and wooden and opens onto a front foyer resplendent with terra-cotta-tiled flooring. A stone staircase curves up from the front foyer, boasting intricate wrought iron railings.

A few steps down from the front foyer is the living room, anchored by a carved-mantel fireplace with windows on either side and a big stained-glass window on one end, offering up ample natural light. Elsewhere on the ground floor is the formal dining room, which features an antique crystal chandelier, wood moulding around the periphery of the ceiling, and a large, oversized carved wood banquet. The adjacent kitchen and more casual breakfast room have slightly more modern aesthetics, with raised panel oak cabinetry and beige ceramic-tile countertops.

Two of the five bedrooms are located on the ground floor and are linked via a vestibule containing a wet bar, likely a remnant of a bygone era (the space would do well to be converted into a Jack-and-Jill bathroom). Upstairs, two other guest rooms share a hall bathroom, while the spacious master suite boasts a walk-in closet and a separate dressing area with a built-in vanity, as well as a vintage en-suite bathroom with unique mauve-colored tiles on the wall.

The backyard features a terra-cotta-tiled terrace with room enough for a dining and lounging area. The terrace then opens onto a grassy lawn accessible through a manicured archway. A driveway passes under a porte cochere to a small motor court and detached two-car garage. Aside from their newly purchased home, O’Dowd and O’Porter also own another, albeit smaller Spanish bungalow a few blocks away, this one boasting just three bedrooms.
