Less than a year after playing a pair of sold-out metro Detroit shows, country big-leaguer Chris Stapleton will be back, this time for his first-ever Michigan stadium concert.

Stapleton will play Comerica Park on July 8, leading a bill that includes Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, country vet Marty Stuart and rising newcomer Madeline Edwards. It follows his sold-out doubleheader at DTE Energy Music Theatre (now known as Pine Knob) last August.

Tickets for the Comerica Park show will go on sale at 10 a.m. Feb. 25 through Ticketmaster. Presales for fan club members and Citi card holders will run 10 a.m. Tuesday through 10 p.m. Thursday.

Stapleton’s concert is now the fifth on the books this summer at the Detroit Tigers’ stadium, and he’ll kick off a busy weekend that also includes shows from Billy Joel (July 9) and Def Leppard-Motley Crue (July 10).

Elton John (July 18) and the Red Hot Chili Peppers (Aug. 14) are also set to play Comerica Park as metro Detroit gears up for its first full summer of concerts since 2019.

The Detroit show is among two dozen newly added dates on Stapleton’s ongoing All-American Road Show tour. It’s also one of four major stadium concerts on his summer agenda, joining Chicago’s Wrigley Field, Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium and the University of Kentucky’s Kroger Field.

Stapleton’s bridging of classic country and rock has made the Kentucky native one of this era’s reigning stars. The five-time Grammy winner — who’s nominated for three more in April — is touring in support of last year’s chart-topping country album “Starting Over.”

His summer schedule also includes a newly added stop at Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort in Mt. Pleasant.
