Yes, there was a football game Sunday. But the artists taking the field to perform is always one of the things people talk about and remember.
Kentucky native Chris Stapleton, whose brawny voice is a hallmark of his numerous hits, played guitar and carried the national anthem with his usual humble approach.
His quietly affecting rendition moved Philadelphia Eagles coach Nick Sirianni and center Jason Kelce to tears as they stood on the sideline. The country star's swoops on the anthem's final notes sent the Arizona crowd into spasms of cheers.

The national anthem by Chris Stapleton was so good that the game could be terrible and the anthem would have made the game entirely worth it just for that performance alone. 🇺🇸 #SuperBowl

No disrespect to Whitney Houston, but that just might have been the best National Anthem ever! #SuperBowl
