Chris Weidman already able to put weight on leg weeks after horrific injury

Chris Weidman has made significant progress after experiencing a gruesome leg injury in April. Weidman posted two videos on Instagram that show him rehabbing and putting weight on his leg following surgery.

In the first video, which was posted Wednesday, Weidman is shown walking on an anti-gravity treadmill. Other videos and pictures on that post show Weidman doing exercises and rehabbing his leg.

The second video shows Weidman walking on his injured leg with the assistance of crutches.

Weidman is able to take a couple steps, though he seems to ease up near the end of the video. If Weidman was discouraged by that, it doesn't come across in the text of the post, where Weidman wrote, "We are moving!!"

Chris Weidman stretchered off at UFC 261

Weidman experienced the injury just 17 seconds into his fight against Uriah Hall at UFC 261. Weidman used his right leg to kick Hall in the shin. Weidman's bone shattered upon impact, and Weidman had to be taken away from the cage on a stretcher.

A few days after the injury, Weidman's wife, Marivi, posted an update saying Weidman's surgery went well.

Following the fight, Hall said he owed Weidman a rematch once he got healthy. Weidman took his first steps — literally — Thursday toward making that rematch a reality.
