Model Chrissy Teigen Accused Of Using First Photo Of Baby Daughter As Self-Promotion

Chrissy Teigen’s latest Instagram picture sums up her joy at becoming a new mother.

The candid portrait shows the 30-year-old cradling her newborn daughter Luna in a muslin cloth on the deck of her home. She’s smiling widely but without engaging the camera - her attention firmly on her two-day-old baby.

Though sadly, some people don’t see it that way and have dubbed the portrait as “self promotion.”

Instead of accepting the portrait as one depicting the bond between mother and child, misguided commenters on the Instagram insist she is trying to get noticed and remain relevant.

In short they’ve decided the first picture of Teigen’s child with John Legend revealed on social media, isn’t about the baby, but has actually been posted to showcase her breasts.

One user has said “Is this picture about her new baby or her cleavage and getting herself noticed?” said one user. Adding “A pure, innocent baby girl and a woman obsessed with showing off her ‘assets’.”

“This is just shameless self promotion,” another added. “Nothing to do with that lovely baby (who deserves better).”

Aside from the fact that a change in the appearance of your breasts is entirely natural during and after birth, we’re sure that how they look is the last thing on the new mum’s mind.

Teigen underwent IVF in order to become pregnant with her first child. She also wept about her fertility struggles on Tyra Banks’s show last September, revealing she would have had a baby six years ago if she could have.

And now that the moment is finally here that she can hold her own healthy child in her arms, it’s only natural that the new mum would want to share her achievement on social media.

The model has openly said prior to giving birth that she won’t stop posting regularly now she’s a mum.

“We’re not going to go out of our way to hide because obviously it’s such a big part of our lives to show everything: the inside of our homes, my parents living with us, our animals, everything,” Teigen told People. “I’m not going to do sneaky back shots of her or anything.”

Though she added that she was hesitant about one thing regarding her daughter’s presence on social media: “I’m not ready for people’s comments. That’s more of what it is… . It’s not like I don’t want to show her or that I’m hiding.”

We’re glad she overcame her concerns in order to share such a tender portrait. After all, it’s no one else’s right to comment on her post pregnancy appearance or lifestyle choices, and she’s perfectly within her right to celebrate them.

Teigen has returned to Twitter following a hiatus last week. and judging her track record at dealing with body shamers - if she does take the time to deliver a response to these negative comments, we’re sure it will be a graceful and carefully considered one which will put them in their place perfectly.
