Chrissy Teigen made her first public television interview appearance yesterday since confirming allegations that she cyberbullied people in the past. The cookbook author joined Hoda Kotb on TODAY to reflect on the last few months following the controversy, as well as discuss her sobriety.

Chrissy took a brief, widely publicized hiatus from Twitter this past March, and in the months that followed, several individuals came forward to expose the way she had bullied them years back. Model Courtney Stodden, for one, publicly shared how Chrissy would send horrible messages like "I can't wait for you to die" and "Do you have a family?" when they were only 16 years old, which led Chrissy to announce a bigger break from social media.

As more people came forward and more tweets resurfaced, Chrissy's ties to projects like her cookware line at Target and her appearance in the Netflix show Never Have I Ever were severed. In June, she wrote an essay on Medium confessing that the allegations over her "old, awful tweets" were true, and apologizing to those she'd hurt.

Speaking with Hoda on TODAY, Chrissy explained the self-reflection she's done since the summer. "Having this period of time to digest it all, and to look back and to realize that honestly there is always so much time to grow and to learn and to become more empathetic," she said. "I look at my kids and I look at what I want their values to be and how I want them to treat people, and to see that in myself, the hardest part for me was realizing, 'My goodness, this really had an effect on people.'"

She also spoke about how losing television gigs and endorsements was an eye-opening part of her growth following the controversy: "You learn so much in the moments where you do lose so much. Your world is kind of turned upside down."

Ultimately, Chrissy said she is now focusing on her family and her sobriety—her appearance on TODAY marked 100 days sober. The lifestyle change was also made following the loss of her son, Jack, due to birth complications.
