Chrissy Teigen And John Legend Weren't At The Emmys For A Seriously Adorable Reason

• Chrissy Teigen and John Legend didn't attend the 71st Emmy Awards because they were in Ohio with family.

• The couple, Luna, and Miles were there to celebrate John's dad's 70th birthday.

• The family spent quality time together, eating cinnamon bun pie and dancing.

Last night was one of the biggest nights in Hollywood. Practically all the celebs (even the Kardashians) strutted their stuff on the red carpet for the 71st Emmy Awards. But one of television's favorite celeb couples was MIA from last night's award show. Where the heck were Chrissy Teigen and John Legend?! FYI: The Voice, for which John is a judge, was nominated for Outstanding Reality Competition show last night and John previously won an Emmy—both good reasons for him and Chrissy to attend. But the couple had an even better reason to skip the show—they were in the Midwest at John's dad’s 70^th birthday party.

Chrissy certainly didn't seem to mind skipping the Emmys, tweeting out a super cute video of son Miles getting his groove on at the party.

"oh you at the Emmys?? well miles and I are jamming out at grandpa legends’s 70th birthday in Springfield, Ohio!," she captioned her tweet.

Oh, and John was also busy documenting the weekend with lots of awww-worthy family pictures on his Instagram.

"Got to spend time with Granny Stephens today!" John captioned a photo with him and his Granny Stephens.

And it looks like Chrissy's mom made the trip as well.

"Miles and his beautiful grandmothers!" John shared.

According to Chrissy's Instagram stories, the bash looked refreshingly normal, with living room hangouts, the whole fam just sitting in a circle and chatting together.

"Hanging at granny's #OHIO," she captioned one of her videos.

She also shared a few short videos of someone cutting a delicious looking cinnamon bun pie that John and Chrissy apparently brought all the way from their house to Ohio.

At some point, they all moved outside, and John's Granny talked about her love of hummingbirds, while Chrissy showed off a windcatcher made of tiny hummingbirds.
