Christie Brinkley says her 'DWTS' injury isn't healing 'fast enough,' needs more treatment

A winner was crowned in the ballroom months ago, but the injury that forced Christie Brinkley to sit out of "Dancing With the Stars" still lingers.

The 65-year-old supermodel revealed that she'll undergo an additional procedure after breaking her arm days ahead of the show's September premiere because "it's still healing, but not fast enough."

"I'm actually going on Friday. I'm gong to get (platelet-rich plasma) and some sort of manipulation to my shoulder, my wrist and my thumb," Brinkley told People Now Wednesday.

According to the Hospital for Special Surgery, "Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy uses injections of a concentration of a patient's own platelets to accelerate the healing of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints."

In September, Brinkley stumbled against her partner's foot and fell to the floor, breaking her right arm. She was replaced by her model daughter Sailor Brinkley-Cook, who ultimately finished in ninth place with pro partner Valentin Chmerkovskiy.

Brinkley underwent emergency surgery after sustaining the injury, and although it's on the mend, the supermodel said she struggles with basic movement.

"I have to literally lift my arm up and hold it," Brinkley said.

Despite the slow progress, Brinkley appeared to be in high spirits and is "hopeful" the procedure will restore her full range of movement.

Last week, Brinkley opened up on Instagram about her road to recovery, revealing that her "broken arm and frozen shoulder affected my whole body."

"I still have lots of work to do to regain my strength and limberness and flexibility," she wrote. "And I won’t get better by complaining, and I know that exercise will heal me and make me feel great."
