‘Christmas at the Museum’ features holiday decorations and activities
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the Monroe County Museum, 126 S. Monroe St.
In celebration of the holiday season, the Monroe County Museum System is featuring “Christmas at the Museum” with a variety of decorations and activities.
Saturdays: Dec. 3, Dec. 10 and Dec. 17 from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.
Visitors can stop in and make a pomander to take home. During the Victorian era, homemade fruit pomanders were decorated with cloves and ribbons and became a Christmas tradition. The activity is free, and no appointment or experience is required.
Letters to Santa: Deadline Dec. 9
There’s still time to write a letter to Santa. Templates are available at the museum and online at www.monroecountymuseum.com. Anyone wishing to send a letter to the North Pole can drop off their Santa letter anytime through the museum’s mail slot. Letters with a return address will receive a response.
Toys for Tots: Deadline Dec. 16
The museum is supporting Toys for Tots. New, unwrapped toys can be placed in the collection box inside the museum’s main hall.
The museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. For more information, log on to the museum’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/MonroeMuseums or call 734-240-7780.
