Christmas in the Park: Celebrate the holidays with music, Santa, outdoor movie

Moncus Park is ringing in the holiday season with Christmas in the Park with live music, Santa, food trucks and children's activities.

The free-three night celebration runs from 6-9 p.m. on Dec.16 to Dec. 18.

Chubby Carrier will take the stage at the First Horizon Amphitheater on Dec. 16, Gerald Gruenig and Gentilly Zydeco will play on Dec. 17 and Wayne Toups will take the stage on Dec. 18.

There also will be activities for children, Santa will be on-site to take photos and there will be sleigh rides. Food trucks also will be at the park.

Volunteers also are needed for event setup and assistance. On-site parking is $10.

In addition to Christmas in the Park, Moncus Park will host three other holiday events -- Teddy Bear Tea, Mistletoe and Mystery Brunch, caroling and screening of a holiday movie.

During the Teddy Beary Tea, Santa and Mrs. Claus will welcome children and adults to a tea party. There will be holiday food, pastries, tea and unlimited mimosas for adults. Children also will receive a teddy bear.

There are seatings at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Dec. 17. Tickets are $85 for adults and $55 for children 3-12 years old. Children under 2 do not require a ticket.

For adults, Mistletoe and Mystery is an interactive theatrical dining experience. Guests will meet suspects to determine who killed Santa.

The festivities wrap up on Dec. 21 with caroling and a movie from 6-9 p.m. Caroling will be led by Wonderland Performing Arts followed by a screening of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas."

Picnic blankets and chairs are recommended. Food and other treats will be available for purchase. On-site parking is $10.
