Christmas steams into Hebron with several events

Dec. 1—HEBRON — Christmas steams into Hebron this weekend.

Several events will take place over Saturday and Sunday, including a treelighting.

The tree outside of the Douglas Library of Hebron will be lit at approximately 5 p.m. on Saturday. Santa Claus is expected to join the festive ceremony, accompanied by members of the Hebron Volunteer Fire Department.

Outdoor yard games and holiday craft activities for children will be offered before the treelighting, and hot cocoa will be provided while carolers from the RHAM High School chorus will sing. A sing-along with all attendees will be held after the treelighting.

The Mohegan Pequot Model Railroad Club will also exhibit miniature locomotives at the Old Town Hall, with members of the club available to answer any questions. The exhibit will be open from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday.

The Hebron Historical Society, which now maintains the Old Town Hall, will also hold a book sale this weekend at the building. The newly revised edition of "Lost Mill Sites in Hebron, Connecticut" and the book "Hebron" from the Images of America series will be sold at $20 per copy, or as a bundle of both for $35 together. Proceeds from the sales of the books will benefit the society's maintenance fund for historic buildings in town.
