Christmas Trees To Sell Out Early At Moore’s Market In Bayville

BERKELEY, NJ — Moore’s Farm Market began selling Christmas trees as soon as they arrived Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend. In less than two weeks, the market has sold nearly all of them.

Scott Moore, owner of Moore’s Farm Market, said the high demand for Christmas trees this year is unusual since the market usually sells their last trees a few days before Christmas.

“We are close to selling out. I wish I had more, but I can’t get anymore,” Moore said. “This is the second year of the shortage. This year it’s a little more extreme.”

In previous years, Moore could replenish the stock of Christmas trees available at Moore’s Farm Market closer to the holiday. That was a challenge this year since trees were in short supply.

Longtime customers flocked to Moore’s Farm Market in addition to new customers who could not find Christmas trees stocked in the stores they usually purchase their trees from.

“We’ve also had a lot of new customers call because there is a tree shortage,” Moore said. “Trees are hard to find.”

Moore said the coronavirus pandemic could be playing an additional role in the rush to secure a Christmas tree.

“People are home more, so they’re probably buying a tree to enjoy it longer,” Moore said.
