'Chunky' Rattlesnake Discovered at School in New Mexico

Animal welfare officers were called in to an elementary school in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to remove a “chunky” rattlesnake which had clearly enjoyed “a big breakfast”.

The Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department said it received a call from the Tierra Antigua Elementary School on Monday, September 27, after staff there had contained the well-fed snake in a trashcan.

The rattler was put in a snake bucket and taken to a safe place, the department said. Credit: Albuquerque Animal Welfare via Storyful
