North Huntingdon EMT wins prize

Shannon Martin, a North Huntingdon emergency medical technician, won a $1,000 prize through Kenny Ross Auto's Hometown Hero program in the recent First Responder Appreciation event.

Martin received the most votes among dozens of first responders who were nominated. Martin received the most votes cast during three weeks in July by those voting for their favorite Hometown Hero on KennyRoss.com.

Kenny Ross Sales Director Rae Ann Morris said the contest generated more than 200 votes.

"It was a great way for us to give back to the folks who give so much to keep our community safe. We plan to give away the cash prize and show our appreciation every summer," Morris said.

The nominated first responders who attended the event received a complimentary lunch and gift bag.
