Church bells chime 'Grease' tunes to honor Olivia Newton-John

STORY: Eyewitness video shows church bells at the Zuiderkerk ("southern church") in Amsterdam playing "Summer Nights", a song from the 1978 Oscar-nominated musical film that was performed by original cast members Newton-John and John Travolta, who played high school lovers Sandy and Danny respectively.

In a separate vidoe, the northern city Groningen's famous 62 bells of the carillon in the Martinitoren church steeple - affectionately known locally as d'Olle Grieze - chimed out another "Grease" classic sung by the duo, "You're the One That I Want".

Olivia Newton-John won four Grammy awards and numerous American Music Awards.

However, she had her biggest career success with the film adaptation of the musical "Grease".

Its popularity has endured since its first 1978 release, with numerous re-releases and special screenings, including a special 40th anniversary screening of the movie in 2018.
