Church donates supplies to Louisville Academy students

The Greater St. Matthew A.M.E. Church Women’s Missionary Society and its pastor Rev. Daniel Thomas, Jr., donated brand new bookbags and supplies to all the 1st and 2nd grade students attending Louisville Academy, its adopted school.

Welcoming them to the school were Principal Christina Ethridge, Asst. Principal Cora Jenkins, First Grade Instructors Melissa Chapman, Bree Hopper, Leah Davis, Angel Uslan, Second Grade Instructors Charlotte Brady, Brandy Wheeler, and Lacie Doolittle.

Representing the missionary society were Brenda Jones, Patricia Gamble and Jeanell Outler. Additional classroom supplies were also given to all the school’s first grade teachers.

“As Nelson Mandela said, ‘Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world,’” Rev. Thomas said. “We want to contribute to all young people in this community to enable them to use their minds effectively to change this world.”
