Church in Spanish Fort dedicates new building after long work effort

SPANISH FORT, Ala. (WKRG) — Members of a congregation in Spanish Fort celebrate a new church. Members of Bible Baptist Church dedicated a new building that was built with the help of volunteers from around the country.

Service in this sanctuary was a long time coming. Back in June we were here as volunteers from around the southeast and beyond gathered to help build this church as part of a larger service project. Sunday is a recognition of that hard work.

“This is a momentous occasion for us and it’s so important for our church to see after we’ve come from rebuilding an older church of just six folks to now growing into a church with a new building and new facilities, that it’s a great event,” said Pastor Richard Ullo

Just next door to the new church, sits their old sanctuary. It’s building still in use, more than a half century old. Now with more room and additional classrooms they have space to grow the congregation and the larger mission of spreading the Gospel.

“That’s on us now. It’s our responsibility to be able to continue on this ministry. And the Lord has already blessed us and he’s allowed us to grow,” said Deacon Nicholas Varn. Even though countless amounts of time and energy went into making this church, they credit God with helping them bring this project to the finish line.

“It’s amazing to see what God has supplied for us. It’s it truly is. We’ve had a lot of obstacles along the way. And and God’s really taking care of it for us,” said trustee Danny Galanopoulos.
