Church uses crop duster plane to bless entire town with 100 gallons of holy water

A Roman Catholic church in Louisiana gave a community-wide blessing by dumping holy water on an entire town using a crop duster plane.

According to a Facebook post from the Diocese of Lafayette on Sunday, members of St. Anne Church in Cow Island enlisted the help of crop duster pilots to load 100 gallons of holy water on planes and spray the water onto the town and nearby farms, CNN reported.

Parishioners brought the water from their homes to the airstrip to be blessed by the Rev. Matthew Barzare.

The idea came from L'Eryn Detraz, a Cow Island native who is a missionary stationed in Ohio.

“A happy and blessed Christmas to everyone from St. Anne Church and parishioners!” the church concluded in the Facebook post.

Cow Island is an unincorporated community in Vermilion Parish approximately 38 miles south of Lafayette.
