CIF-SS boys basketball roundup: Agoura's Zane Miller scores 50 in first-round win

Zane Miller poured in 50 points to lead the Agoura High boys basketball team to an 88-51 win over visiting San Marcos in a CIF-Southern Section Division 2A first-round game Wednesday night.

Nasir Meyer scored 21 points and Iggy Spayne added 10 points for the Marmonte League champion Chargers (20-9). Agoura will host Sonora, a 72-46 winner over Ayala, in a second-round game Friday.

Miller's single-game total is the second-most in Agoura history, surpassing the 49 points scored by Sean Martin in 1991. The record is held by Miller's older brother, Jed, who scored 62 points in game on May 4, 2021.

DIVISION 1

Seshsha Henderson finished with 16 points, seven steals, six rebounds and four assists, Isaiah Sherrard had 10 points and three blocks, Dylan Hayse had nine points and 10 rebounds, Trey McDonald had eight points and four assists, and Isaiah Kelley added eight points to lead Oak Park to a 53-41 victory over visiting St. Francis in a Division 1 first-round game.

The Eagles (18-10) will play at Etiwanda in a second-round game Friday.

DIVISION 2AA

Justin Rener scored 20 points, Caleb Peters had 18 points and seven rebounds, and Ryder Mjoen finished with 14 points and five rebounds to lead Simi Valley to a 66-59 win over visiting Fountain Valley in a Division 2AA first-round game.

The Pioneers (20-8), who won a share of the Coastal Canyon League title with Oak Park, will play at Culver City in a second-round game Friday.

Jacob Kjarval scored 26 points, Elias Chin finished with 19 points, Trent MacLean had 14 points, and Cole Caudill added 12 points for Thousand Oaks in its 92-80 loss at Culver City in a Division 2AA first-round game. The Lancers end their season 20-9.

Calabasas lost to host Beverly Hills 58-52 in a Division 2AA first-round game. The Coyotes finished the season 18-12. Gavin Murphy went over the 1,700-point mark for his career and finished with 697 points this season for Calabasas.

DIVISION 3AA

Colin Guenther scored 22 points, Zane Carter had 14 points and 10 rebounds, Daniel Ortiz finished with 11 points and six assists, and Luke Ortiz had 10 points and nine blocks to lead Buena to a 59-47 victory over visiting Pasadena Poly in a Division 3AA first-round game.

The Bulldogs (25-4) set the program record for wins in a season, breaking the 1984-85 team's mark of 24. Buena will host Artesia in a second-round game Friday.

Chase Aronowitz scored 20 points, Marcos Jaquez finished with 16 points, Josh Castaniero had nine points, and Tyler Hook and Jack Bannon each contributed eight points to lead Camarillo to a 61-57 win over host South Pasadena in a Division 3AA first-round game.

The Scorpions (17-12) will host Tustin in a second-round game Friday.

Cooper Lucas scored 16 points, Noah Cotton had 11 points and Jace Birdsong added nine points for Newbury Park in its 64-48 loss to host Artesia in a Division 3AA first-round game. The Panthers ended their season 14-15.

Rio Mesa lost to host La Serna 63-53 in a Division 3AA first-round game.

DIVISION 4AA

Dylan Benner finished with 27 points and 17 rebounds, Sam Seiden scored 13 points, and Mathew Wilson contributed 12 points to lead St. Bonaventure to a 62-40 victory over visiting Costa Mesa in a Division 4AA first-round game.

The Tri-Valley League champion Seraphs (20-8) will host Indian Springs in a second-round game Friday.

Beckham Rutherford poured in 29 points and Josh Rosen and Cole Everett each had nine points to lead Nordhoff to a 62-47 win over visiting Western Christian Academy in a Division 4AA first-round game.

The Citrus Coast League champion Rangers (21-6) will play at Eisenhower in a second-round game Friday.

DIVISION 5AA

Jack Morris finished with 18 points, eight assists, four steals and three rebounds, Isaac Weslow had 17 points, 11 rebounds and two steals, Nate Delgadillo had seven points, 12 rebounds, four blocks and two steals, and Jacob Munoz added seven points and three rebounds to lead host Fillmore to a 54-49 victory over Mary Star of the Sea in a Division 4AA first-round game.

The Flashes (13-11) will play at Loara in a second-round game Friday.

Mason Stueber scored 23 points, Will Friel had 16 points and Tyler Pickett had 15 points to lead Hillcrest Christian to a 71-62 overtime victory over visiting St. Monica Academy in a Division 4AA first-round game.

The Saints (21-6) will travel to Perris for a second-round game Friday.

Ashton Brown scored 21 points and Sam Noah finished with 18 points for Foothill Tech in its 53-50 loss to visiting Katella-Anaheim in a Division 4AA first-round game. The Dragons finished the season 13-15.

DIVISION 5A

Jose Valdovinos finished with 24 points and eight rebounds, Jordan Ramirez had 14 points and eight rebounds, Nathan Lopez scored 11 points, and Jeremiah De Santiago had 10 points and 12 rebounds to lead Santa Paula to a 71-45 win over San Luis Obispo Classical Academy in a Division 5A first-round game.

The Cardinals (10-9) will play at Midland in a second-round game on Friday.

Javon Bobbsemple had 18 points and 12 rebounds, Nazir Ivey had seven points and four rebounds, Franky Tzintzun scored seven points, and Da'shaye Williams had four rebounds and four assists for Channel Islands in its 95-58 loss to top-seeded Blair in a Division 5A first-round game.

The Raiders finished the season 10-18, which included a wild-card win on Tuesday which was their first postseason victory since 2000.

Newbury Park Adventist earned a 61-40 win over visiting International School of Los Angeles in a Division 5A first-round game. The Gators will play at Vasquez in a second-round game Friday.
