Cincinnati-area players playing in the 2022 NCAA baseball tournament
The 2022 NCAA Division I baseball tournament kicks off Friday with the regionals being held at 16 sites across the country.
Auburn, East Carolina, Florida, Georgia Southern, Louisville, Maryland, Miami, North Carolina, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, Southern Miss, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M and Virginia Tech were all selected to host.
The Volunteers were named the No. 1 overall seed for the first time in school history.
Mississippi State, the 2021 champion, did not qualify for this year's tournament.
Greater Cincinnati will once again be well-represented in the tournament this season. Fifteen area players will participating, including four suiting up for Wright State.
Additionally, Campbell head coach Justin Haire is a Badin High School graduate.

Here are the area players in the 2022 NCAA baseball tournament:
Campbell
The sophomore pitcher has appeared in nine games, starting five, and is 4-0 with a 7.57 ERA. Struck out 33 batters in 27 ⅓ innings pitched.
Boxrucker struck out a season-high nine batters in five innings in a win over Longwood on April 23.
Central Michigan
Freshman pitcher has a 7.50 ERA after tossing 12 innings across 11 games.
Threw a season-high three innings in his only start of the year against Oakland on May 10.
Sophomore pitcher has a 7.82 ERA after appearing in 13 games
Coppin State
Junior infielder is second on the team with a .333 batting average.
Had a season-high three hits in a win against Delaware State on April 24.
Florida State

The senior catcher is playing in the NCAA tournament with his third different college, having appeared before with Oklahoma State and LSU.
Has appeared in 32 games, starting 14. Batting .266 with six home runs and 15 RBI.
LIU
The graduate student pitcher joined LIU after playing at Northern Kentucky.
Has a 2.45 ERA after appearing in 12 games and earning a save. Has struck out 28 batters in 18 ⅓ innings.
Louisville
The freshman infielder did not appear in a game this season.
The junior pitcher is 2-1 with a 5.47 ERA through 19 games this season.
Has struck out 26 batters through 24 ⅔ innings.
Texas Tech
The freshman infielder has appeared in 12 games and is batting .188.
The freshman catcher has appeared in 11 games, including making three starts.
VCU
Junior pitcher has played in eight games, making one start and has a 4.82 ERA.
Wright State
Freshman infielder is hitting .178 with a home run after appearing in 25 games with 11 starts.
Sophomore pitcher has appeared in nine games with one start. Has a 12.38 ERA with 11 strikeouts in eight innings.
Junior infielder has started 45 games. Hitting .204 with 30 runs scored and is tied for second on the team with seven stolen bases.
Junior pitcher is 1-5 with a 9.45 ERA. Has thrown in 12 games, making eight starts.
