The Wuerffel Trophy, named in honor of 1996 Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Danny Wuerffel (University of Florida, 1993-96), recognizes college football players who serve others, celebrate their positive impact on society, and inspire greater service in the world.

Huber, who is entering his sixth season at Cincinnati, earned his bachelor's degree in finance in spring 2019 (3.95 GPA), his master's degree in finance in spring 2020 (3.9 GPA) and is currently working on a certificate in real estate.

Huber appeared in all 14 games for the Bearcats last season as a reserve linebacker and a standout on special teams. The Indianapolis native collected 15 tackles (nine solo) with four tackles for loss, three sacks and a fumble recovery and blocked punt.

Huber is expected to start this season at middle linebacker, the quarterback and leader of the "Blackcats" defense. The 6-foot-4, 250-pound scholar-athlete told The Enquirer in the spring that he's more than ready to step into that role.

"I need to step up and be that guy," Huber said. "It's going to take a lot out of me to get us back to where we were last year. But that's the standard. It doesn't change. It's who we are now."
