'We'll see': Bengals DT DJ Reader on if he'll play vs. Dolphins on Thursday Night Football

The Cincinnati Bengals got their first win of the season, but they did so without one of their top players on defense.

Defensive tackle DJ Reader was lost for the game in the second quarter against the New York Jets with a left knee injury.

He was later shown walking up and down the Cincinnati sideline.

When question after the game about his status for the Thursday Night Football game against the Miami Dolphins, Reader responded: "We'll see."

Before he was injured, Reader had two tackles against the Jets, one of which was a solo stop.

Reader was a big splash free agent signing for the Bengals after the 2020 season. Reader was signed to a $53 million contract by the Bengals, the largest free-agent contract in franchise history.

During head coach Zac Taylor’s second free agency window with the team, the Bengals signed defensive tackle D.J. Reader to the largest free-agent contract in franchise history.

Reader’s $53 million deal set the tone that the Bengals would be willing to spend aggressively in free agency, that Taylor was planning to reboot an entire roster and that players around the NFL believed they could have a shot to win in Cincinnati.
