Local home prices bounced back to their all-time highs in April, and the Cincinnati metro area led the nation for the biggest percent increase in median sales price over the past year, according to the latest Re/Max National Housing Report.

The median home price in Cincinnati climbed 8.4% from April 2022 to $275,000 last month, according to the report from the national real estate brokerage and listing service.

The median price for the local area hasn't been that high since June 2022.

Besides Cincinnati, the Top 5 markets with the biggest year-over-year increase in median sales price were Milwaukee (8.1%), St. Louis (7.7%), Trenton, New Jersey (7.4%) and Miami (7.1%).

Cincinnati bucked national trend in home prices

Cincinnati and the other home price gainers bucked the national trend: The median price for all 49 metro areas that ReMax surveyed in April was $409,000, down 3.1% from April 2022, according to the report.

The markets with the biggest year-over-year decrease in median sales price included San Francisco (-13.5%); Coeur d’Alene, Idaho (-12.8%); and Seattle (-10.9%), according to the Re/Max report, which is based on monthly Multiple Listing Service data for the metro areas included in the report.
