Cincinnati Reds pitching prospect Connor Phillips strikes out 13 for High-A Dayton Dragons

Reds right-handed pitching prospect Connor Phillips had 13 strikeouts in six innings for High-A Dayton in the Dragons' 5-3 win Friday against Quad Cities.

Phillips, ranked No. 14 by MLB.com among the team's top prospects, allowed two runs - one earned - and four hits without a walk.

In March, the Reds announced that Phillips was the player to be named to complete the March 14 trade that sent left fielder Jesse Winker and third baseman Eugenio Suárez to the Seattle Mariners for starting pitcher Justin Dunn, outfielder Jake Fraley and left-handed pitcher Brandon Williamson.

Phillips, who turned 21 earlier this month, was the Mariners' second-round pick in the 2020 MLB Draft.
