The Cincinnati Reds used a team-record 66 players in 2022. Where are they now?

The Cincinnati Reds had a team-record 66 players appear in at least one game during the 2022 season, trailing only the Pittsburgh Pirates (68) for the most players used by a team last year.

Exactly half of those 66 players remain in the Reds’ organization while the other half went elsewhere. Here’s a look at where everyone ended up:

SS Kyle Farmer

2022 stats: .255/.315/.386 slash line in a team-high 145 games with 14 homers, 25 doubles and 78 RBI.

Departure: Traded to the Twins in November for pitching prospect Casey Legumina.

2023 status: Used as a backup infielder for the Twins, playing shortstop and second base, Farmer was hit in the face by a pitch Wednesday. He was placed on the injured list after he had surgery on his lower lip and bottom four teeth.

3B Brandon Drury

2022 stats: .274/.335/.520 with a team-high 20 homers. Had 22 doubles and 59 RBI before he was traded.

Departure: Traded to the Padres in August for shortstop prospect Victor Acosta.

2023 status: He signed a two-year, $17 million contract with the Angels. He’s struggled to start the season with a .200 batting average and 13 strikeouts in his first 11 games.

OF Tyler Naquin

2022 stats: .246/.305/.444 with 12 doubles, seven homers and 33 RBI in 56 games before he was dealt.

Departure: Traded to the Mets in July for pitching prospect Jose Acuna and outfield prospect Hector Rodriguez.

2023 status: He’s playing in Triple-A for the Brewers after signing with them on a minor league deal. He hit a walk-off homer against Louisville, the Reds’ Triple-A affiliate, in his first game.

2022 stats: In 91 games with the Reds, hit .238/.320/.374 with 11 doubles, 11 homers and 39 RBI.

Departure: Traded to the Red Sox in August for infielder Nick Northcut.

2023 status: Signed a one-year, $6 million contract with the Mets. He’s off to a solid start, batting .276 through 32 plate appearances with a homer, five RBI and two stolen bases.

OF Aristides Aquino

2022 stats: .197/.246/.363 with 10 homers, 13 doubles, 30 RBI and 101 strikeouts in 80 games.

Departure: Released in November.

2023 status: He signed a one-year, $1.2 million contract with the Chunichi Dragons in Japan. It’s been a slow start in his new league with a .207 batting average, one homer and 14 strikeouts in his eight seven games.

INF Donovan Solano

2022 stats: .284/.339/.385 with 16 doubles, four homers and 24 RBI in 80 games.

Departure: Free agent at the end of the season.

2023 status: Signed a one-year, $2 million contract with the Twins in February. He is hitting .341 through his first 41 at-bats with four doubles and three RBI.

3B Mike Moustakas

2022 stats: .214/.295/.345 with 12 doubles, seven homers, 25 RBI and 75 strikeouts in 78 games.

Departure: Released in December with $22 million remaining in his contract.

2023 status: He joined the Rockies on a minor league deal in March and made the Opening Day roster. He looked to be in noticeably better shape than last year, but he’s hitting .136 in his first 29 plate appearances with a homer and three RBI.

INF Max Schrock

2022 stats: Limited to 13 games due to injury, he had four hits in 26 at-bats.

Departure: Released in August.

2023 status: After signing a minor league contract with the Padres, he’s on the injured list for their Triple-A team.

OF Albert Almora Jr.

2022 stats: .223/.282/.349 with 10 doubles, five homers and 29 RBI in 64 games.

Departure: Released in September.

2023 status: He remains a free agent.

C Aramis Garcia

2022 stats: .213/.248/.259 with two doubles, a homer and four RBI in 47 games.

Departure: Designated for assignment in October.

2023 status: He signed a minor league contract with the Phillies and remains with their Triple-A team.

C Austine Romine

2022 stats: .147/.173/.263 with two doubles, three homers and nine RBI in 37 games.

Departure: Free agent at the end of the season.

2023 status: The Reds re-signed him on a minor league deal, but he was released during spring training.

C Michael Papierski

2022 stats: Played in 34 games, hitting .159/.242/.207 with a double, a homer and four RBI.

Departure: Designated for assignment in October.

2023 status: The Tigers claimed Papierski off waivers and then signed him to a minor league deal. He’s playing for Detroit’s Triple-A team.

C Mark Kolozsvary

2022 stats: Made MLB debut and played 10 games. He had four hits in 20 at-bats with two doubles, a homer and nine strikeouts.

Departure: Designated for assignment in October.

2023 status: Claimed off waivers by the Orioles, Kolozsvary is playing for their Triple-A affiliate.

C Chris Okey

2022 stats: Made his MLB debut and played seven games. He had two hits in 12 at-bats.

Departure: Released in August.

2023 status: He signed a minor league contract with the Angels on March 30.

1B Colin Moran

2022 stats: In 42 games, hit .211/.305/.376 with five homers, three doubles and 23 RBI.

Departure: Released in September.

2023 status: Playing in Triple-A for the Mariners’ organization after he signed a minor league contract with them in January.

3B Taylor Motter

2022 stats: Filled in during the Toronto series when the Reds had COVID-related absences. He had one hit in six at-bats.

Departure: Released in July.

2023 status: He made the Opening Day roster for the Cardinals as a backup infielder. He has two doubles and six strikeouts through 13 at-bats.

3B JT Riddle

2022 stats: He had one hit in four at-bats during his two games with the team.

Departure: Traded to the Mets in May when he was in Triple-A.

2023 status: He remains a free agent.

OF Ronnie Dawson

2022 stats: He made one start and went hitless in three at-bats.

Departure: Became a minor league free agent in November.

2023 status: He signed with the independent league Lexington Counter Clocks.

RHP Luis Castillo

2022 stats: Before he was traded, he had a 4-4 record and a 2.86 ERA in 14 starts with 90 strikeouts in 85 innings.

Departure: Traded to Seattle for prospects Noelvi Marte, Edwin Arroyo, Levi Stoudt and Andrew Moore.

2023 status: Seattle’s Opening Day starter signed a five-year, $108 million extension last year. He has a 1.02 ERA through three starts this season with 17 strikeouts and four walks in 17 innings.

RHP Tyler Mahle

2022 stats: 5-7 record and a 4.40 ERA in 19 starts before he was traded with 114 strikeouts and 39 walks in 104 1/3 innings.

Departure: Traded to Minnesota for prospects Spencer Steer, Christian Encarnacion-Strand and Steven Hajjar.

2023 status: He’s posted a 4.09 ERA through two starts with 13 strikeouts and two walks in 11 innings.

LHP Mike Minor

2022 stats: 4-12 record and 6.06 ERA in 19 starts with 76 strikeouts and 40 walks across 98 innings. He gave up a team-high 24 homers.

Departure: Free agent at the end of the season.

2023 status: He remains a free agent.

RHP Jeff Hoffman

2022 stats: 3.83 ERA in 35 appearances with 45 strikeouts and 23 walks in 44 2/3 innings.

Departure: Released in November.

2023 status: After spending spring training with the Twins, he’s pitching for Philadelphia’s Triple-A team.

RHP Art Warren

2022 stats: 6.50 ERA in 39 appearances with 40 strikeouts and 22 walks across 36 innings. He recorded three saves.

Departure: Released in November.

2023 status: He’s expected to miss the season after he had elbow surgery, but he signed a two-year minor league deal with the Yankees.

RHP Dauri Moreta

2022 stats: 5.40 ERA in 35 appearances with 39 strikeouts and 13 walks in 38 1/3 innings.

Departure: Traded to the Pirates in November for shortstop Kevin Newman.

2023 status: Pitching in the Pirates’ bullpen, he’s allowed three runs and five hits in six innings.

RHP Ryan Hendrix

2022 stats: Allowed nine hits and five runs in 8 1/3 innings across nine relief appearances.

Departure: Designated for assignment in October.

2023 status: He signed a minor league contract with the Diamondbacks and pitched well during spring training. He’s opened the season on their minor league injured list.

LHP Ross Detwiler

2022 stats: 4.44 ERA in 26 1/3 innings with 28 strikeouts, 10 walks and one save.

Departure: Released in August.

2023 status: He remains a free agent.

LHP Phillip Diehl

2022 stats: Allowed eight hits and seven runs in 5 2/3 innings.

Departure: Traded to the Mets in the Naquin deal.

2023 status: The Moeller product is pitching in Columbus for Cleveland’s Triple-A team.

LHP Justin Wilson

2022 stats: Pitched only 3 2/3 innings before an elbow injury required Tommy John surgery.

Departure: Free agent at the end of the season.

2023 status: Still recovering from Tommy John surgery, Wilson signed a one-year, $850,000 contract with Milwaukee that includes a club option for 2024.

RHP Robert Dugger

2022 stats: Surrendered 11 hits and eight runs in 10 2/3 innings.

Departure: Designated for assignment in October.

2023 status: Pitching in Triple-A for the Rangers’ affiliate.

RHP T.J. Zeuch

2022 stats: In three starts, he yielded 24 hits and 18 runs in 10 2/3 innings.

Departure: Released in September.

2023 status: The Mason native has allowed one run in 11 innings for Philadelphia’s Triple-A team.

RHP Kyle Dowdy

2022 stats: Made two appearances and pitched 6 1/3 scoreless innings.

Departure: Released in November.

2023 status: Pitching for Baltimore’s Triple-A team.

RHP Raynel Espinal

2022 stats: Gave up six hits and four runs in 4 2/3 innings, including homer No. 698 to Albert Pujols.

Departure: Released in October.

2023 status: He remains a free agent.

RHP Luke Farrell

2022 stats: Allowed six hits and four earned runs in his two appearances across four innings.

Departure: Became a minor league free agent in October.
