Cincinnati is the second-best city for apartment gardening in the U.S., report says
Is Cincinnati one of the best cities for gardening? If you believe the recent ranking from Apartment Guide, then yes.
The lease-finding website recently released a list of the best cities for gardening in apartments around the U.S., based on a number of factors including a climate conducive to growing and availability and access to home gardening businesses.
Cincinnati was ranked second overall, coming in just ahead of Tampa, Florida and behind Miami, Florida.
Apartment Guide called Cincinnati the "best city for gardening in the entire northern U.S.," due to its position on the border of Kentucky straddling both the Midwest and the South. Cincinnati also has the highest number of garden centers per square mile of any of the qualifying cities, according to the ranking.
No other Ohio or Kentucky city cracked the top 10 list. The next closest Ohio city was Cleveland, ranked 32nd.

Only Miami ranked above Cincinnati, thanks to its high average minimum temperatures and the number of garden centers, landscaping stores and nurseries per capita.
Each city with over 200,000 people was ranked and scored based on those criteria calculated on both the number of garden businesses per square mile and per capita.
