Fortune Well, the health-focused subsidiary of Fortune Magazine, released its inaugural list of the 25 best places for families to live in the U.S., and one Cincinnati suburb made the cut.

The outlet's ranking put Mason, Ohio at No. 4. It was the only Ohio city on the list, which came out today.

Fortune Well evaluated nearly 2,000 cities, towns, suburbs, exurbs, villages and townships with populations between 25,000 and 750,000. Over 215,000 unique data points were collected across education, aging resources, general wellness, financial health and livability categories.

The rankings focused on families, especially Americans raising children while also caring for aging parents, taking into consideration school district quality, graduation rates, nearby college affordability, number of nursing homes and home healthcare agencies.

Keeping affordability in mind, surveyors eliminated places where the cost of homes was more than twice the state median, and/or more than 2.75 times the national median. Fortune also eliminated non-racially diverse areas where more than 90% of residents are white, non-Hispanic.

Additionally, no more than two cities or towns per state could be included in the list.

Fortune used data from Caring.com, CVS, Healthgrades, ShareCare, Witlytic, America's Health Rankings, the School Finance Indicators Database, Everytown Gun Law Rankings, Homeland Infrastructure Foundation, Realtor.com, SchoolDigger and more, a press release states.

It also sourced private sector data from several agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Center for Health Statistics and the U.S. Department of Education.

Mason has much more to offer residents than its famed amusement park, Kings Island. Last year, it ranked among the 50 best places to live in the U.S. by Money Magazine, which evaluated cities' job growth, affordable housing and quality of life.

It's also home to Great Wolf Lodge, Makino Park and the Lindner Family Tennis Center, which hosts the annual Western & Southern Open.
