Cincinnati weather: Chilly night Wednesday for Reds vs. Phillies; frost expected overnight

It's going to be a cool, dry day in Greater Cincinnati.

According to the National Weather Service office in Wilmington, a cold front will continue to push through the Ohio Valley region Wednesday morning, bringing cooler, drier air to the area. Forecast highs are only expected to reach the lower 50s north of I-70 and the middle 60s south of the Ohio River.

Winds are expected to weaken by late afternoon, and cloud cover should begin to scatter, making for a chilly night in late April. Patchy frost will be possible Wednesday night into Thursday morning, per a hazardous weather outlook.

Forecast lows range from the lower to middle 30s areawide. Despite abundant sunshine, Thursday's highs will remain in the upper 50s to middle 60s.

A warm front will move northeast into the region on Friday. This front will bring an increased chance for showers and perhaps a few rumbles of thunder.

Temperatures will rise to the upper 60s and lower 70s on Friday. Highs on Saturday will hit the 75- to 80-degree range. The remainder of the weekend is forecast to be relatively dry, with just a low chance for a shower or storm. Temperatures will warm to the upper 70s and the lower to mid-80s.

Patchy frost after 5 a.m. Otherwise, it will be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming clear, with a low around 38. The north wind will be 6 to 9 mph.

Thursday: Patchy frost before 8 a.m. Otherwise, it will be sunny, with a high near 65. East wind 5 to 7 mph.

Mostly clear, with a low of around 43. East wind around 6 mph.

Friday: There is a chance of showers, mainly after 2 p.m. It will be partly sunny, with a high near 72. The south wind is 9 to 14 mph. The chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch are possible.

A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low of around 61. The chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Saturday: There is a chance of showers before 2 p.m. It will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. Breezy. The chance of precipitation is 30%.

Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 84. Breezy.

Monday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm are likely. It will be partly sunny, with a high near 79. Breezy. The chance of precipitation is 60%.

Tuesday: There is a chance of showers. It will be partly sunny, with a high near 75. The chance of precipitation is 40%.
