Cinco De Mayo 2022: Where To Celebrate Around Morristown

MORRISTOWN, NJ — Thursday will mark the first Cinco de Mayo since New Jersey dropped COVID restrictions at bars and restaurants. Many establishments around Morristown are ready to celebrate.

Cinco de Mayo commemorates the anniversary of Mexico's victory against the French Empire at the Battle of the Puebla in 1862. While many Mexican-Americans have raised awareness about the holiday's significance, Cinco de Mayo also gained popularity in the United States because of campaigns from beer, wine and tequila companies.

But no matter what draws you to the celebrations, plenty of Morristown businesses will get festive. Here are some Cinco de Mayo celebrations around town:

Bar Crawl

A Cinco de Mayo Bar Crawl will travel through Morristown on Thursday evening and during the weekend. PubCrawls.com will host both events. Participants who order tickets online can check in on the website and then go to the venue during each event's check-in hours.

The Thursday event, which sold out, will run from 5-9 p.m., beginning at Dublin Pub. The Saturday event still has openings, meeting again at Dublin Pub and running from 1-4 p.m.

Bars Holding Specials

If a "crawl" isn't your scene but you'd still like to celebrate with drinks, several Morristown bars will hold specials.

Iron Bar will sell $1 drafts from 9 p.m. until closing Thursday.

Horseshoe Tavern will hold a "Cinco de Mayo Fiesta." The bar will have a Modelo special, plus live DJs beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday.

What Else Is Happening

The Morris County Hispanic-American Chamber of Commerce will hold a business-networking event at 5 p.m. at The Laundromat, a bar at 4 Dehart St. Tickets cost $25 for general admission and $20 for members. The celebration will also include a complimentary drink and tacos. See the event page to register.

Morristown also features no shortage of Mexican food. Here are some local restaurants:
