What is Cinco de Mayo?

Cinco de Mayo marks the anniversary of Mexico's victory over the French Empire in 1862 at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War. It's also known as Battle of Puebla Day.

While not a major holiday in Mexico, Cinco de Mayo has become an annual celebration of Mexican-American culture in the United States.

Party on at Bakersfield with festive drinks, tacos and music by DJ ETrayn today. Plus, customers can enter for a chance to win free tacos for a year.

Listermann Brewing Company

Listermann Brewing Company has been celebrating Cinco de Mayo all week long with its new Mexican lager, Outnumbered. The brew is offered in cans and on draft with a Tajin-rimmed glass.

Today, get a draft pour for $5 or a four-pack for $10.99.

BrewDog Cincinnati

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo at BrewDog with two tacos and a headliner beer for $15.

Open from 4 to 10 p.m. 316 Reading Rd., Over-the-Rhine.

Braxton Brewing Co.

Starting at noon, Braxton Brewing customers can enjoy the brewery's new Garage Beer Lime. The Taco Fuerte food truck will also be serving $2 tacos that come with free chips.

Bar Saeso

Stop by Bar Saeso for live music, tacos from Pata Roja Tacos, drink specials and margaritas.

The Varsity Sports Bar and Grill

All day long, Varsity Sports Bar and Grill is offering $4 margaritas, $2 tacos and Poblano soup. Other specials include gourmet white cheddar mac and cheese for $7.95, 12 oz. rib-eye steak dinner with two sides for $16.99 and beer pitchers, $10 for domestic brews and $15 for imports and IPAs.

Olla Cov

Customers at Olla Cov can enjoy food and drink specials today, including $2 chicken or chorizo tacos, $2 Jello shots, $4 Patron shots and $5 margaritas.

DJ MagicHoot will be spinning some tunes on the patio from 5 to 11 p.m. Scarlet Begonia’s Flower Truck will also be on site from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

Mesa Loca
