‘Cinderella’ the pup gets happy ending after 1,139 days in shelter, CA video shows

One pup finally got her own fairytale ending after spending over three years in a California shelter.

Cinderella, a 6-year-old mix, was adopted after spending 1,139 days in the spcaLA PD Pitchford Companion Animal Village & Education Center in Long Beach, a news release said.

“News of her adoption was a gift to the staff and volunteers of Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA) who have cared for her for the last three years,” the release said, showing a photo of Cinderella with her new family.

The pup went through “hundreds of hours of animal behavior training” and enrichment since arriving at the shelter on Aug. 28, 2020, which kept her happy, the release noted.

But why did it take so long for her to finally find her forever home?

“It may have been her breed or age – Pit Bull, 6-years-old – two things she could do nothing about. spcaLA shared pictures and videos of her on social media, and Cinderella appeared several times on local TV hoping to entice an adopter,” the release said. “Ultimately, a family came to the shelter asking, ‘Who has been here the longest?’ After a couple of meetings, and a week to prepare, Cinderella’s wish came true. She now has a family of three with four feline siblings of her very own.”

News of her adoption was shared on Facebook and people were overjoyed.

“Yay, finally!! So happy for Cinderella!!!” one person posted.

“Thank you for saving her. She looks so happy,” another said.

“Shout out to this fantastic family!!!” someone wrote.
