BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Cirque du Soleil will be performing at the Raising Cane’s River Center in Baton Rouge for the first time. This year’s show theme is, “Corteo.”

Many of the artists, like Svetlana Tsarkova, are excited to perform for the first time in Louisiana. She is one of the juggling performers.

“This show is beautiful and it’s involving all of us, like we are always busy here, like to really, like you can see you inspire people, you can see like, you are like giving so much and you are getting like as much as well, so it’s pretty cool,” said Tsarkova.

“Corteo” is about a clown who is imagining his own funeral, and the goal of the performance is to take the audience along the journey of his life.

“What they’re going to see is a story of the celebration of a man’s life and other people he meets, there’s a lot of joy,” said Alison Crawford, Artist Director of “Corteo.”

There are over 50 artists from around the world performing, with 23 of them coming from different nationalities. Tsarkova is from Russia and although she is far away from home, she says that everyone treats each other like family.

“I think we’re in a good relationship. I mean, like it’s a very nice cast, we are super friendly, and we are always like, we’re ready to help whatever we need, and also like, not just artists, are super nice,” said Tsarkova.

“Corteo” is one of Cirque du Soleil’s popular shows, and Baton Rouge will finally get a glimpse of what it’s like, and the artists are hoping that their performance will leave a lasting impression on the public.
