Citrus Coast League selects its top performers for the 2022-23 winter season

Jack Morris of Fillmore was named the Most Valuable Player in boys basketball for the 2022-23 Citrus Coast League season.

Named to the first team were Beckham Rutherford and Willem Rutherford of league champion Nordhoff; Nate Delgadillo of Fillmore; Jordan Ramirez and Jose Valdovinos of Santa Paula; Da'shaye Williams and Nazir Ivey of Channel Islands; William Casarez and Lloyd Bema of Malibu; and Kainoa Glasgow of Carpinteria.

Named to the second team were Josh Rosen and Campbell Gaston of Nordhoff; Isaac Weslow of Fillmore; Jeremiah De Santiago and Andrew Mojica of Santa Paula; Deshaun Holmes of Channel Islands; Asher Kats of Malibu; Christopher Jaunillo of Hueneme; and Sebastian Campusano and Sawyer Kelly of Carpinteria.

Earning honorable-mention honors were Jacob Munoz and Anthony Tafoya of Fillmore; Nathan Perez and Nathan Garcia of Santa Paula; Ray Curiel of Fillmore; Joseff Francisco, Marc Ortiz and Frankie Tzintzun of Channel Islands; Henly Baldwin and Brandon Alvarado of Malibu; Rodolfo Jimenez, Carlos Suarez and Mario Serrano of Carpinteria; Jake Yson and Jacob Chavez of Hueneme; and Beck Zimmerman of Nordhoff.

Mark Blankenship of Fillmore was named the Coach of the Year.

Angel Mosqueda of league champion Santa Paula was named the Offensive Player of the Year, Lorenzo Luna of Santa Paula was named the Defensive Player of the Year and Edgar Cortez of Hueneme was named the Goalkeeper of the Year for the Citrus Coast League.

Earning first-team honors were Benjamin Aguilar, Christian Coeto, Christopher Martinez and Emeliano Levianos of Channel Islands; Francisco Montiel, Christian Salcedo and Ezequiel Mendez of Santa Paula; Axel Jimenez, Ernesto Velez and Enrique Robles of Nordhoff; Diego Alcarez, Arnulfo Zepeda and Jesus Angel Avila of Fillmore; and Ulises Segura of Carpinteria.

BOYS WRESTLING

Timothy Burke of Channel Islands, who won the league title at 147 pounds, was the Lower Weight MVP and Robert Maria of Hueneme, who was the 154-pound champion, was the Upper Weight MVP of the Citrus Coast League.

Jayleen Garrett of Nordhoff, who won the 128-pound title, was named the Lower Weight MVP and Audrey Diaz of Hueneme, who won the 139-pound title, was named the Upper Weight MVP of the Citrus Coast League.

Erin Otsuki of league champion Carpinteria was named the Most Valuable Player of the Citrus Coast League.

Named to the second team were Maya Allen and Corallyn Moss of Nordhoff; Gabriela Nolasco of Santa Paula; Ami Cruz of Hueneme; Ruby Lopez of Channel Islands; and Lilli Nemetz, Kate Isaac and Francis Bennett of Carpinteria.
