City of Amarillo contains wastewater spill on Osage caused by lift station outage

A sanitary sewer overflow Tuesday from a manhole at 5601 S. Osage has been contained, according to the City of Amarillo.

The city said a nearby lift station lost power, causing 180,000 gallons of wastewater to be released. The spill was contained at 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30.

Cleanup procedures are complete, including vacuum removal of excess untreated wastewater and application of HTH to clean remaining residual wastewater, according to the city.

The Texas Commission of Environmental Quality has been notified and is working with the city to minimize environmental impacts.
