City announces all-external candidates for police chief vacancy

The City of Abilene has announced the four candidates in the running for the Abilene Police Department's chief position.

According to City Manager Robert Hanna, the four candidates are:

  • Daniel Carolla, US Manager – Meta Law Enforcement Response Team, Austin, Texas

  • Albert Garcia, Chief of Police – Levelland Police Department, Levelland, Texas

  • James Golden, Captain – Greensboro Police Department, Greensboro, North Carolina

  • Rondell Seratte, Assistant Chief of Police - Lawton Police Department, Lawton, Oklahoma

When asked why no candidates from within the Abilene Police Department were chosen, Hanna remarked that interim Police Chief, Doug Wrenn, did not apply for the position. Additionally, of the two internal applicants, one applicant withdrew their name from consideration and the second did not qualify to move forward to the finalist stage.
