City breaks ground on healing expansion to Chastain Horse Park

Wednesday marked the start of a healing expansion at Chastain Horse Park.

Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens joined in a special groundbreaking ceremony celebrating an initiative known as “healing through horses.”

The Chastain Horse Park has been operating a nonprofit therapeutic program for 20 years. Now they’re getting a new therapeutic center.

“(The center) will include wonderful facilities for clinician space, for therapists who help stretch children before they get on horses. We have classroom spaces so that when it’s inclement weather and crazy thunder and lightning, we can just go into classroom space,” said Kelcy Rainer with the Chastain Horse Park.

Chastain Horse Park programs are for children, teenagers and adults with both physical and cognitive challenges.
