New life at old Jeff's spot

A new eatery promising "a dining experience above all others" is opening its doors at a well-known Fall River spot next week. Christopher's Cafe Carma is calling local foodies back to 1816 South Main St., the former site of Jeff's ice cream, starting on Tuesday. They'll be serving up bakery items, artisanal pizza, as well as offering catering and private dinners or brunch at the intimate South End space. The core menu features a variety of hot paninis, cold subs, pizzas — like eggplant garlic burrata, fig and pig — salads and pastries — such as banana bread, bourbon pecan and salted chocolate chip. But their menu extends well beyond. According to a post on their Facebook page, hours will be 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and until 2 p.m. on Sunday.
