City Council Approves Streets Program

Nov. 21—The Athens City Council approved the City's annual Street Rehabilitation and Seal Coat Program at last Monday night's council meeting.

The City has allocated $650,000 for the maintenance program. City officials believe that sealing the streets will preserve them as much as possible, extending the street's life by seven to 12 years, depending on the amount of traffic.

The following streets have been identified for this year's program:

—N. Pinkerton Street (from Scott to Jonathan) — Overlay W/ Curb & Gutter

—Martin Luther King Blvd. (from Stirman to 1st) — Overlay W/ Curb & Gutter

—N. Pinkerton Street (from W. Tyler to Scott) — Overlay

—N. Pinkerton Street (from Scott to Jonathan) — Overlay

—Clinton Street (from S. Palestine to S. Prairieville) — Overlay

—Crestway Drive (from E. Corsicana to Crestway St.) — Chip Seal

—Crestway Street (from E. Corsicana to E.Tyler) — Chip Seal

—East Oval Drive (from Hillside to Hill Crest) — Chip Seal

—Lonnie Drive (from Elaine to the Dead End) — Chip Seal

—Kelly Drive (from Oval to Lonnie) — Chip Seal

—Terry Drive (from Oval to Lonnie) — Chip Seal

—Laurie Drive (from Hill Side to Lonnie) — Chip Seal

—Claudia Drive (from Oval to Lonnie) — Chip Seal
