Wichita Falls City Councilors will talk again about how to spend $29 million the city has received from the federal government for COVID-19 relief when they meet Tuesday.

The city is welcoming public participation in the discussion of allocation of the American Rescue Plan Act money.

The city staff came up with 14 spending proposals that met ARPA requirements - seven that qualified as lost revenue and 15 other items on a $68-million wish list. Additionally, the city has a standby wish list that amounts to $68 million.

The discussion will be part of an otherwise routine meeting in which councilors will:

  • Require owners of some dangerous buildings to demolish them.

  • Appropriate a total of about $27,000 in grant revenue for TxDOT's annual “Click It or Ticket” and “Operation Slowdown” programs that pay a portion of Police Department overtime during certain times in the summer.

  • Award bid and contract for $26,775 to Excel Construction Group for the Lift Station No. 25 Roof Replacement Project.

  • Conduct a public hearing on the proposed adoption of the 2017 National Electric Code as the city’s electrical code.
