City Council District 1 candidate looks to make Thomasville better place to live, work and play

Sep. 8—THOMASVILLE- Lucinda Brown recently qualified for the Thomasville City Council District 1 seat, hoping to make Thomasville a better place to work, live and play for all.

A native of Thomasville, Brown has a track record of service and leadership in the community. Whether serving as the President of the local chapter of the NAACP, passionately managing the services provided by the Department of Family and Children Services, regularly attending local government and community meetings, or taking training classes such as Leadership 2000, Brown has always sought to improve the lives of those in the Thomasville/Thomas County community.

"I am excited and proud to be in this campaign for the Thomasville City Council District 1, Post 1, seat," said Brown in her campaign announcement. "I look forward to representing everyone in Thomasville fairly. I will run a positive campaign, and, as always, embody integrity and honesty in all my interactions."

Brown already has ideas on how she would improve the inner workings of the City Council, if elected.

"We must have a sound revenue structure, a balanced budget, and a spending approach that is mindful of the needs of our citizens and businesses, said Brown. "To make sure our families thrive, we must make sure they have affordable utilities and housing. To make sure our businesses thrive, we must have an environment that promotes success. We must also make sure our neighborhoods are healthy and safe."

Brown feels she could be an advocate for all neighborhoods, ensuring equitable distribution of all resources and equal treatment and protection under the law.

"It will be a great privilege to serve my community on the City Council. I will do so by listening openly to the concerns of all our community members with the goal of building a better Thomasville, one that thrives economically and maintains that "small town" feel we have in Thomasville," she said.

"Let's work together to make Thomasville a better place to live, work and play for everyone," Brown concluded.
