City and county offices will be closed for the holidays

Dec. 20—LENOIR — City Hall and recreational facilities will be closed Friday, Dec. 23 through Tuesday, Dec. 27 in celebration of Christmas, and Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, in celebration of New Year's Day. Garbage collection will be affected.

The Lenoir Aquatic & Fitness Center will also be closed Saturday, Dec. 31.

Generally speaking, when a garbage collection day falls on a holiday, pickup for that day will be moved to Wednesday of that week.

This week, garbage normally picked up on Friday, Dec. 23 will be picked up Wednesday, Dec. 21. Next week, garbage normally collected on Monday, Dec. 26 will be collected Wednesday, Dec. 28. For New Year's week, garbage normally picked up on Monday, Jan. 2 will be collected Wednesday, Jan. 4. All other garbage pickups will remain on a normal schedule. There will be no bulk collections during the holidays.

The City of Lenoir Recycling Center is located on Pennton Avenue. The center accepts common recyclables from city of Lenoir residents only. Rear view mirror hangers are available at the recycling center or at the front desk on the first floor of City Hall. The Recycling Center is generally open on:

Mondays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Due to the holidays, the Recycling Center will be closed on:

Saturday, Dec. 24; Monday, Dec. 26; Saturday, Dec. 31; and Monday Jan. 2.

Residents who wish to recycle should plan to stop by the Recycling Center on Wednesday for the next few weeks.

The City will also pick up real Christmas trees from Monday, Jan. 2, to Friday, Jan. 6. Remove all ornaments and decorations from the trees. Place trees behind the curb or ditch line, so as not to impede pedestrian or vehicle movement.

All Caldwell County offices will be closed Friday, Dec. 23 through Tuesday, Dec. 27 in observance of Christmas. Offices will be open Wednesday, Dec. 28 through Friday, Dec.30, and will close again Monday, Jan. 2 for the New Year holiday.
