The City of Galesburg is searching for a new city manager, and it wants your input

GALESBURG — The City of Galesburg is looking for public input in its search for a new city manager.

With the recent departure of City Manager Todd Thompson to accept the position of Rock Island City Manager, Mayor Peter Schwartzman and the City Council of Galesburg are beginning a process to recruit a new Galesburg city manager. The city is inviting anyone who lives, works, shops, visits, matriculates, or does business in Galesburg to provide input into this very important recruitment process. According to a news release, the mayor and council members believe it is important to solicit the thoughts and ideas of community members regarding the traits, attributes, skills, and experience that the new city manager should ideally possess.

Community members are encouraged to complete this brief online survey, which will be available until 5 p.m. on June 3. All responses will be anonymous and will be recorded, compiled, and shared with the mayor and council by an independent third party. The information gleaned from the survey responses will be used to define the specific candidate qualities and skills that the City will pursue for this very important leadership position.
