City Hall, Willmar Community Center site concepts are focus of Tuesday, Nov. 29, City Council work session

Willmar City Council

will meet for a work session at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, in the Willmar Municipal Utilities auditorium.

On the agenda for the work session is a presentation from BKV Group regarding site concepts to construct a new Willmar City Hall and a new Willmar Community Center.

Potential sites that will be presented for a new Willmar Community Center include Gesch Park on the corner of Olena Avenue and 12th Street Southeast, Lincoln Park north of Minnesota Avenue and east of Ninth Street Southeast, and a location near Lakeland Elementary that would be south of the school and north of Willmar Avenue Southeast.

Potential sites for Willmar City Hall include Block 50 downtown, located along Trott Avenue between Fourth and Fifth Street Southwest, and the Hardware Hank location downtown near the current City Hall. Two options were proposed for the Hardware Hank location.

Block 50 downtown is also a potential site for a combined City Hall and Community Center, with two site plan options proposed.
