Las Vegas, Clark County officials close parks, roads in response to flooding in valley

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The City of Las Vegas, Las Vegas Fire Rescue, and Clark County are continuing to respond to weather-related incidents throughout the valley.

The flash flood warning was issued for central Clark County until 8:30 p.m. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Henderson, Boulder City, Anthem, Southern Highlands, Enterprise, Jean, Mountains Edge, Green Valley, Paradise, Sam Boyd Stadium, Primm, East Las Vegas, Lake Las Vegas, Las Vegas Bay, Sloan, Seven Hills, Silverado Ranch, Goodsprings, Railroad Pass and Nipton.

Due to the flooding, the following roads were closed on Saturday:

  • I-15 southbound south of Jean near the California-Nevada border

  • Gilespie and Maulding near Warm Springs, east of Las Vegas Boulevard

  • Jones and Pyle south of Blue Diamond

  • Rand Road by the Warm Springs loop in Moapa

  • Jones and Gunderson Avenue

  • Alexander Road and Puebla Street

  • West Calico Basin Road

  • State Route 169 at Lewis in Overton

  • SR 612/ Nellis Boulevard northbound at Flamingo Road

If other roads are flooded, the county encourages people to find another route.

On X, the City of Las Vegas tweeted that cleaning crews will be out throughout the weekend in areas impacted by flooding. The following parks are closed due to damage:

  • Mayfair Park

  • Field 7 at Kellog Zaher Sports Complex

  • Barkin’ Basin Park

The Las Vegas Fire Department also tweeted on X that its crew responded to 24 swift water rescue events, including:

  • 30-35 vehicles stranded in water

  • 10-12 people rescued from standing or moving water.
