City of Lima encouraging mask use in city buildings

Aug. 5—LIMA — COVID-19 cases are on the rise again in Allen County, prompting the city of Lima to make changes regarding its mask guidelines. To stay in line with the CDC recommendation, the city is encouraging all employees and visitors to mask up when they are indoors at city buildings, vaccinated or not.

While the city is not requiring masks, they are still highly recommending it to everyone in their buildings.

"The Allen County Health Department has recognized that COVID activity has increased in our county," said Lima Public Works Director Howard Elstro. "They have encouraged us and others to heed the CDC guidelines, which encourages the use of masks indoors by both vaccinated and unvaccinated persons."

Elstro also encouraged residents to get vaccinated and that the COVID vaccine is the most effective way to curb possible outbreaks.
